The Downings and Shempps
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand the value of good neighbors. Bill and Jean Shempp cherish the fact they have Jim and Sarah Downing as neighbors at Fox Run. Bill also happens to be a rocket scientist.
The story goes back more than 30 years when The Downings and Shempps were neighbors raising families in Buffalo. Bill and Jim were both in the field of engineering and became great friends. Jean and Sarah shared a love for wine and baseball, both with vivacious attitudes leading to lively banter.
Then serendipity struck. Without consulting each other both the Shempp’s and Downing’s decided to move to Fox Run. So it was only natural they become neighbors again. They each have a patio home right next to each other. Sarah says, “We felt so much better about the move, knowing they’d be here.”
Though both couples have children across America, Sarah insists the decision to stay in Western New York, in particular the decision to live at Fox Run, was the right decision. “This is where our life is, our friends.” And the ability to maintain one of their longest and dearest friendships is a gift they all cherish.
