You Are Here: A Global Photography Showcase from John Harrigan will be featured in the Community Art Gallery at Fox Run at Orchard Park starting March 2nd. Harrigan’s international travel experience and career as an award-winning filmmaker serve as key influences of his artwork. His collection captures the essence of a variety of global settings using environmental colors, ambient light manipulation, and distinct composition.
Harrigan explains his career as “a balance of work between the social sciences, the cinematic arts, and education”. He is currently a professor in the Communication and Media Arts Department at SUNY Erie, where he also served as department chair for 15 years. He most recently spent a year as a visiting professor in Singapore.
Harrigan’s work has been screened and/or exhibited at venues such as Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, Miami Short Film Festival, New England Film and Video Fest in Boston, MA, Berkeley Video and Film Festival, Super Shorts International in London, England, Garden State Film Fest in New Jersey, and the Southern Ohio Museum of Art and Culture. Locally, his work is part of the permanent collection at the Hotel Henry Urban Resort, Buffalo, NY.
Fox Run will hold an opening reception on Wednesday, March 11th. Attendees can meet John Harrigan and hear a presentation about his work. Doors open at 6:00pm and the artist’s presentation begins at 6:30pm. This event is open to the public and the Fox Run Community. The Community Art Gallery is open to the public from 8:00am to 8:00pm, Monday through Saturday. Visitors are asked to enter through the Commons Building.
